Le Puy - Day 0 - BVBWers at large

Today was spent looking around le Puy. As a result, the pictures here are a record of our (Jan and Neil) jaunt around the old city - our second visit in 5 years. Le Puy is a beautiful OLD town with a lot of religious historical background.

The "veille ville" heading up towards the cathedral.

Old gate near the cathedral.

After a bit of a climb (lots of opportunities to train for climbing in le Puy!) the base of the famous statue of Notre Dame is reached. Made of melted down Russian canons in the 1860, it is an amazing structure.

Saint Michel d'Aiguilhe chapel as seen from the top of the Notre Dame monument. Eric and Di will hopefully send us some pics of the inside.

The 12th century cathedral in the old town, again from the top of Mary.

Us inside the top of the statue - more climbing practice!

View back at Notre Dame from the path down.

View through the museum window across gardens to Notre Dame.
